Thinking about moving to Storrington?
Storrington is a bustling large village that has the feel of a small town due to the wide variety of shops and things to do in the local area. Nestled in the northern end of the South Downs, Storrington lies between Steyning to the east and Pulborough to the west. Storrington’s history dates back to 1086, when it was first mentioned in the Domesday Book as Estorchestone. The Church of St. Mary dates back to the eleventh century, and the contemporary Storrington High Street and Square sits upon what was once the cattle market. The modern day Storrington has a population of roughly 4,500. Alongside the host of shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, Storrington has a strong selection of sports facilities including the leisure centre, football and cricket pitches. The village has both a Guides and a Scouts group, as well as a lawn tennis club and a squash club. For the more adventurous, the Southdowns Gliding Club is located just outside the west of the village.
For history and nature lovers, Storrington offers a lovely selection of days out on your doorstep. Parham House & Gardens is a stunning Elizabethan family home with an idyllic Walled Garden and Pleasure Grounds. The Storrington and District Museum presents a fascinating account of local life throughout the centuries, and is housed in the Old School building. If it is museums that you are after, then the nearby Amberley Museum is one of Sussex’s best. The open air museum has a fascinating collection of transport, industry, communication and crafts exhibitions and regularly hosts special events.
The nearest large town is Worthing, with Horsham also just roughly 15 miles away. Storrington has well connected transport links, thanks to the nearby mainline stations in Pulborough or Amberley.
