We’re passionate about giving back and helping our local area, our Community Chest scheme is At Home’s legacy project and an important way of us giving financial support to local community organisations and services. Since starting the scheme, we have also launched our Positivity Projects initiative, an exciting and new way of offering support and investing time for those who need it.
In addition to our legacy projects we actively collaborate with local businesses, organisations and charities with sponsoring and partnerships. Our team have worked extremely hard on these projects and we are delighted with all that we have achieved so far.
We are very proud of our Community Chest scheme here at At Home Estate and Lettings Agency. Our vision is for the Community Chest scheme helps support local, community based and volunteer run organisations.
Since launching the scheme in December 2017 we have been honoured to help and support a number of local communities including Know Dementia, Phoenix Stroke Association, Horsham Matters, Springboard Project, Southwater Welcome Club, and Southwater Village Hall Pre-school and Southwater Junior FC as well as working with and supporting almost all of the schools in the district so far.
Born out of the pandemic of 2020, our Positivity Projects are designed to bring happiness and joy to our local area through competitions, campaigns and community activities. During lockdown we ran competitions, rewarded key workers for their amazing work, supported organisations through funding events that were otherwise lost to the restrictions of lockdown.
We are now committing to running 4 projects each year to launch each Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We are all extremely excited to see where our next project takes us.
There are so many fantastic sports clubs, events, organisations, charities, schools, in fact you name it we have it in the area. We love engaging with so many and feel honoured to be invited to get involved with such a variety of causes. Our team regularly enjoys engaging in voluntary activities such as litter picking, supporting sports events and running stalls at fetes and festivals. In addition to this we have participated in charity fundraising events, sponsored local and school events, supported many raffles and competitions and sponsored local sports teams. Being able to give back to our community in so many ways is what continually helps inspire and motivate us to go the extra mile.
Starting the year with our winter Positivity Project we collaborated with several local sport clubs to showcase some of the opportunities we have in the area. The drive behind this campaign is to inspire, support and celebrate our local girls, to remind them how important getting active is both physically and emotionally and to hopefully increase awareness of the fantastic clubs that are currently working so hard to provide vital and equal opportunities within our community.
We invited children to write their own Springtime poem. The winning poets won a Sussex Wildlife Trust Butterfly & Bee Wild flower pack for their school. The entries were incredible Toby aged 7 and Alfie Aged 5 were are winners.
In support of the Lionesses reaching the Euro 2022 final we ran a goal celebration competition – check out our socials to see Paul’s favourite celebrations, so much fun was had running this competition. Well done to James who won the competition with this Fantastic celebration entry.
We invited local schools to design Poppies to decorate our branch windows to mark Remembrance Day. They were absolutely beautiful and a wonderful tribute which we will use each year to mark the period of Remembrance.
We sponsored the Southwater Infant Academy’s Christmas Fair. This is always s great community event and our competition stall was extremely popular. Who wouldn’t want to win this cute cuddly Penguin.
We were so proud to be able to support this project. The This Girl Can campaign aligned perfectly with our community-driven principles of increasing access and opportunities for everyone.
Our first Positivity project of the year we committed to Motivational March and Appreciation April. We dedicated these two months to the well-being of our At Home and About Mortgage teams. We took part in Employee Appreciation Day 2023, volunteered at Horsham Matters Food Bank, participated in national charity campaigns such as Red Nose Day, fooling around for April Fools and hosted our Quarterly Business Update which incorporated team building in the shape of a little friendly competitive fun at Horsham Major Mind Games escape rooms followed by dinner at La Piazzetta.
To mark the King’s Coronation we sponsored Southwater’s Coronation Celebration and despite the rain the event was a huge success, well done to the Southwater Community Partnership for organising such a memorable historic event. At Home ran the Great Coronation Bake off event and the entries were both delicious and stunning.
Each year we support Southwater Royals by running a competition stall at their Presentation day. This is always such a great family day that we love being involved with, a great local club and congratulations to our competition winner.
We opened our doors to a host a work experience opportunities. We had students from Millais, The Weald, Collyers and QEII, they were all brilliant and we look forward to hosting more student in the future.
As sponsors of Storrington Tennis club we attended their annual tournament day, it was an absolute scorcher and a brilliant day.
We were delighted to be invited to sponsor Castlewood School Blackberry Fair, this year we ran the popular Nerf Gun activity stall. Paul had an absolute blast.
We are strong supporters of Horsham Matters and dedicated our Autumn Positivity Project to supporting this charity with their Christmas Campaign. For every exchange in November we made a donation to our Christmas Pot of Cheer.
For our Winter Positivity Project we ran a Christmas Card Competition. We invited St Mary’s CofE primary school to participate in a designing our 2023 Christmas card, the entries were fantastically festive and it was a difficult task to choose our top three.
Our final event of the year was a joint effort with our sister company About Mortgages sponsoring the Southwater Academies Christmas Fair, we had such a great time running a competition stall and the Snow Globe attraction and the event was a huge success.
We were asked to organise and run the popular annual village Christmas lights competition, Southwater Illuminated. We had a great response and the judges found it incredibly hard to pick the winners. Thank you to everyone that took part, this is a fantastic local community event that really embraces the Christmas community spirit.
